As requested by Joyce, a private family burial was held at Crossways Woodland Burial Ground in Cheriton Bishop, Devon, on 16 October. Her sister, Barbara (Bunty) Radford, died in Croydon on 5 April 2020. She always wanted to move to Devon to be near her sister, so her ashes were interred at the same time, next to Joyce.

A small group of four family and close friends then walked up Brentor, to the church where Joyce's daughter and son-in-law were married in 1982. The occasion was marked by a socially-distanced picnic with a piece of homemade chocolate cake, in memory of Joyce, who would have approved. 

A silver birch tree will be planted to mark Joyce and Bunty's final resting place.
